Unai Emery is pushing for a transfer move for winger Cristian Pavon as per report from Daily Express.
The Boca Juniors player enjoyed a good run at the World Cup with Argentina and has been the subject of interest from a host of clubs in the European continent, including Barcelona.
They though have shifted their attention to Chelsea wide man, Willian, so we could be in pole position.
Pavon, whose release clause has reportedly been increased to about £37m, is ready to leave the Argentine Primera División to move to Europe, as he looks to establish himself as a regular player in the national team.
Arsenal have already signed Bernd Leno, Stephan Lichtsteiner, Sokratis Papastathopoulos, Lucas Torreira and Matteo Guendouzi in a busy transfer window for Emery.
Speaking yesterday, the boss said, “We signed the players who we needed and only if one player is a big opportunity for us will we sign them; at the moment, I think the squad is complete.
“We will only sign another player if there is an opportunity to bring in that one player, or two players. Arsenal are interested in signing the player who they see as the long term replacement for Alexis Sanchez who left the club in the January transfer window for Manchester United.”
He will be a different option to what the Gunners have at the moment, as his pace and ability to stretch the defence is one asset the current Arsenal players don’t boast in abundance.
Pavon is a versatile wide man who can also play as a forward; he is just as comfortable cutting inside as he is taking on the full-back. He is fast, can dribble but what makes him unique is his right blend of attacking qualities that make him devastating in the final third. If we could sign him, it would be an excellent piece of business.
