Arsenal are closing in on a loan deal for Denis Suarez. This is according to a report in the Daily Star that says that the deal will definitely happen this month, though the Spanish league leaders have insisted on a specific clause in the loan agreement. The Barcelona midfielder, 25, has struggled for gametime this campaign, falling down the pecking order due to the arrival of Arthur and Arturo Vidal.
Arsenal want to sign him on deal until the end of the campaign without an obligation to buy while Barcelona want to insert a compulsory purchase clause should the deal go ahead. Arsenal manager, Unai Emery has been on the lookout for a technically gifted midfielder this winter as speculation continues to mount over the future of Mesut Ozil.
Here’s how he will look like when he completes his move to North London.
Reputable Sky Sports journalist, Darmesh Sheth told the Transfer Talk podcast, “As it stands, we’re talking about Arsenal only wanting loans. They want to bring Barcelona’s Denis Suarez in on a loan move.
“They know each other very well, Emery and Suarez, he played under Emery in the 2014/15 season when he was on loan at Sevilla. Barcelona would, we think, be happy to do a deal, but provided it came with an obligation to buy Denis Suarez in the summer.”
Emery has worked with Suarez before during their time in Sevilla in the 2014/15 campaign and believes the nimble-footed Suarez can cause damage to opposition defences with his incisive passing and creativity. Suarez also wants to leave the Camp Nou as he believes that at 25, he should be playing more regularly rather than warming the Barcelona bench.
