Not Morata: Arsenal eye Real Madrid forward as likely replacement for Alexis Sanchez

After Alexis openly admitted to wanting to play in the Champions league next season, players have been linked as his possible replacement at Arsenal. One of such is Karim Benzema who has always cut the eye of Arsene Wenger since his Lyon days.

Paris Saint Germain have entered the race to sign the Chilean international and Arsenal might be forced to selling outside England especially at this point that he has just a year left on his contract.

Report by Spainish news outlet, Don Balon, claim that Benzema is the most likely player Wenger will be looking at if Sanchez leaves. Arsenal will want to boost their title hopes by getting adequate replacement for Sanchez and the Madrid striker is the player Wenger sees as the man fit for the job, as per Daily Star.

We have broken our transfer record this summer to bring Lyon striker Alexander Lacazette for £46.5m and have gotten Sead Kolasinac on a free transfer from Schalke. All in the hope of competing favourably next season.

We are also still linked with other players like Monaco Thomas Lemar but it is Benzema who appears to be the most realistic target at the moment.

The Gunners will be making as much as £50m from the sale of Sanchez and are ready to reinvest everything back to the team to reinforce their squad

The only worry Wenger would have – if Benzema joins the Gunners- is how to play all the strikers he has at his disposal knowing that Giroud, Lacazette and Benzema are all central strikers. Also the new formation of three at the back provides room for two players upfront as it gives Wenger room to rotate his players especially during the Europa league.
