Nigel Winterburn reacts to the #Wengerout brigade and Arsenal summer transfers

Former Arsenal left back Nigel Winterburn teams up with Comedian Matt Brown for the somophore episode of Askfans TV, in which Winterburn reacts to the current happenings at the Emirates stadium.

Arsenal have not had the best of Premier League starts this season, having lost two games on the trot against Stoke City and Liverpool. Although the Gunners managed to swerve another defeat in the first League game of the season, as we started off the last two campaigns on a sad note. However, we only have one win to show for our efforts thus far this season.

The fans and the media have reached a common ground, as they all accept that there’s need for change in the current Arsenal setup, but Winterburn feels all Arsenal have to do is shore up their defence. He also reveals the player he wants Arsene Wenger to recruit at the club.

Also, in the recent interview with Winterburn, the 53-year-old, who signed for £350,000 from Wimbledon in 1987, opens up on how much he thinks he is worth if he was up for sale in today’s ‘crazy’ transfer market. He is also made to choose between Steve Bould and Martin Keown as his preferred defensive partner.

Winterburn played his best football at Arsenal, where he made 440 appearances for the club in the years 1987-2000, thereafter signing for West Ham for a fee around £200,000.

Having had a brief coaching role at Blackburn Rovers, the former England international now works as a pundit for BT Sport where he offers his opinion on football-related matters.
