Innocent Fabregas deserves our support

Update: After reading this brilliant post by Arseblogger making a mockery of the claims made by Phil Brown and the article entitled “I’d rather Cesc had knocked Brian out” by Tim Sherwood, I’ve decided to reneg on my opinion to refrain from commenting on the spitting furore.

Instead I’d like to say this: I do not believe that Fabregas spat at the Hull assistant manager and, like Arseblogger, I think he deserves our full support in order to minimise the amount of speculative slanderous exposure he gets in the media. He has made it clear that he did not spit and never has done and I think we owe it to the captain of the club to support him in this instance.

We may got a little lucky with William Gallas’ winner on Tuesday night but the accusations made by Brown about Fabregas are unfair and in my opinion he should absolutely be punished by the FA as result.

That is all. I’ll speak to you tomorrow.

* * *

There’s virtually nothing going at the moment that doesn’t involve the Cesc Fabregas-Brian Horton spitting incident. Personally I don’t want to get involved in the speculation – I don’t really see the point in adding fuel to the media fire – and given that there’s nothing else worth mentioning I’ve decided to have the night off.

A couple of beers will certainly do the trick.

Have your say on the spitting incident (if you must) or Arsenal v Hull by leaving a comment.

  1. Yes it is getting a bit tedious, isnt it. Check out arseblogger for some hilarious contradictions from Phil Brown.

  2. Time to stop talking about the non-existent spitting and concentrate on the bad tackles still flying in from real thugs like Diouf. Thats the story they are trying to avoid.

  3. Also didn’t ronaldo spit at some one in the last 5-10 games ago? Manure got away with it but now they are watching a video from 4 years ago with ballack in the cl. Why don’t they watch dudus broken leg and ban thatcher the mauler for life!!!!!
Anyhows can’t wait to watch the newcastle game anyone to put a bet on us going the season unbeaten?

  4. @ kenya I’m with you on the setanta thing as I recorded the game the other day and it missed out the last 40 mins and had to then rewind my iq (lucky it was on the same ch) but I already knew the bloody score. But then again espn are just as bad. Also when are setanta going to get arsenal tv as even rangers have a bloody show and there only 2 teams in the scottish league.

  5. @ ArsenalKenya – What do you mean by “these two stations have twats serving them?”

I’m happy to advertise Setanta on this blog and their coverage is particularly good online. I got to watch the FA Cup game on Setanta online this week.

  6. This Brown guy has just reduced himself to a tot,i mean why are we even talking about him and giving him all this publicity! He got lucky once at the Emirates and then thought what!Well am saying this with a heavy heart but i now wish him to go down!

  7. Twat (twot) –twats

    1. a highly offensive term for a woman’s vagina or genital area
    2. a highly offensive term for somebody regarded as unintelligent, worthless, or detestable

  8. 3. twat is also a pregnant goldfish (I think)
@sf I think kenya means the comentaters talk bs but so does everyone on espn but my gripe with foxtell is recording issues as with the fa cup game replay they played 15 mins of adverts at ht but played the match from 60 mins so mr programer forgot to pause the game and I missed out on 15 mins plus the other day against hull it stopped recording at 8am but the match still had 30 mins to go. But it’s better than f-all thou.

  9. Also Djourou had a shocking game, very unlike him, he just didnt do well at all. Any comments on his performance? I have full belief in Cesc and that’s all im saying. Even though the goal was offside, we deserved to win the game, thats that, we are through, end off! I think Arshavin was a much better buy than we all thought, he is very intelligent, he can pick a pass (very much like Cesc) he is unpredictable (his goal v Bburn, his assist v Hull) and I think he will be very important to us!

  10. Phil Brown’s been fined for a sideline problem vs Newcastle… His credibility is evaporating right before our eyes…

  11. thanks SF for the link.good one and yeah they should stop talkn bout the spitting coz it does not exist.

  12. the radio interview on the beeb is hilarious, obviously he has realised in the cold light of day he has no leg to stand on but he is to much of a c@nt to say he got it wrong.

  13. jay jay i agree with you asha is intelligent and fast.he is as good as fab.are you austin jay jay okocha, former nigerian player?

  14. I don’t think anyone in England is a Setanta fan, SF! The general consensus is that they stole our international games from terrestrial TV and made them pay-per-view, then they mess up on just about every important live-game going. That’s before you even get to the commentary, or fact that we used to pay for one sports channel, now we have to shell out for two…

All inconsequential though, as I hear that Captain Fantastic is back in training. Our team morale must be pretty sky high at the moment. Fabregas returning to the field should give us a massive lift and hopefully it will come just in time!

  15. Ok, I admit it! It was I who spat at the assistant manager.

I was also the gunman on the grassy knowle.

    -d

  16. Four more hours for CL draw to kick-off. I would like us to avoid English teams esp. Scoucers.
    Barca anyone…

Phil Brown is talking nonsense. Everthing he spoke is trash-talking. All I know is that he is very close to Big Sam and has same character like him. One biggie Cunt who hates AFC.

Nobody saw Cesc spitting besides Brown and Horton in a busy tunnel. Bullshitting..

Now I hope Hull gets relegated. Brown ought to manage his darling club in Championship.

  17. BTW; I hate Setanta too. Their commentatory is horrible. Had to watch Carling cup couple of times. ‘ll never watch again.

  18. Im really not afraid of any team atm. The only team i want to avoid is Liverpool (because of their luck with referees). Barca, Manyoo, Bayern, Chelsea? bring them on.

  19. Nice draw for Arsenal. I would rather face Manyoo in SF than Chelski/Pool. Villareal are a good team. They will be looking for revenge of 2006 semifinal..

  20. Another Arsenal vs Barcelona final on the horizon. We will beat you Thierry and Barca. That would be fun cause Henry actually left us to win trophies. Can’t wait.

  21. Oh, We will have a chance to meet our Pires Gun. Is Cyan bold-headed fella’ still playing?

  22. Yep – Cygan is there too. He doesn’t play very often though (surprise, surprise!)

I’m taking my son to Newcastle tomorrow to see his first game (the indoctrination continues), let’s hope it won’t be another cagey affair like Hull and Roma. I wanna see the boys hit top gear from the first whistle and really make a statement.

  23. I think the draw has favoured us this time round. We first play away including the SF against ManU before taking our revenge on Barca in Rome.On paper our chances are 1/8 (based on no. of teams) or is it 1/5 (based on the no. of matches before CF lifts the trophy for the first time in arsenal’s history

  24. Villarreal have a league game on Sunday the 5th of April (evening) and then play us on the Tuesday. I wonder if that will be rescheduled for them.

  25. Arsenal have it tough in April.
    7 April -> Villareal
    15 April -> Villareal
    18 April -> Chealse
    21 April -> Liverpool

Don’t know about you, but this is an exciting month. Surely winning all these games will discard all the negativity from the media
    Go Arsenal

  26. Good draw for the next round El Submarino Ammarillo, also we are home for the second leg, it will be nice to welcome back, one of my favourites, Robert Pires as well as Pascal Cygan.

Shame that Walcott is injured again, let’s hope the scan shows it’s not too serious.

Good news that Edouardo is back in the squad against, the Barcodes, tomorrow, Final thirty minutes as a sub plus a goal will be just the thing.

  27. i hope that yong wally’s injury is just a bit of subterfuse to keep him away from the internationals.

  28. Looks like people are already underestimating Villarreal. They can definitely eat us and I am a bit worried to be honest. Senna, Pires, Nihat, Rossi, Llorente, and Diego Lopez + a solid D… They are definitely a dangerous squad…

  29. @ MoMONEY

I think we all know that Villareal is a good team. We had a tough time beating them 3 years ago remember? but im confident we can beat them. Senna is a beast, Song and Deni will have to be at their best against him, and Bob is a old man now, i watched him play a few times this season, he still has some neat touches but the speed is gone. Our fast pace game should be too much for him.

Anyway, im looking forward to Barca vs Bayern. Its gonna be a classic.

  30. A repeat of the barca final would be nice and we will win it as 11 vs 11 won’t give them any chance plus larsson has gone he always was 1 of my fav players not to wear an arsenal shirt bit of a waste playing in scotland for all those years.

  31. http://tribalfootball.com/ancelotti-demands-ac-milan-bid-arsenal-striker-adebayor-233779

    Milan wants Ade?

And I hope you are right about Pires being old now… Either way its dangerous. Should be fun to watch though. And I am pretty upset that Bayern is playing Barca. I wanted them to pull an upset on one of our rivals and I want Barca in the final… Oh well! And if we get through, us vs ManU is going to be EPIC. If any team knows how to beat them its us and Wenger…

  32. I have said if United didnt meet Barca til the final then those 2 teams will be in the final and as they havent I believe a United – Barca final this year. Villarreal will be hard! I believe United will shrug Porto off and then beat the team out of Arsenal and Villarreal whereas and Barca will beat Bayern and pretty easily too I predict. Chelski and Lfc will be hard to say but the winners will go out to Barca. I think we should win tomorrow and liverpool should also beat Villa. Walcott injured, but that does mean Arsha and Nasri on the wings -surely! Rvp and big dane upfront, yes i am saying i want bendtner to start, I dont say it often I know lol. Lets just hope we wina nd take each game as it comes, we got important FA Cup and UCL games coming so we hope we can have Dudu, Ade, Cesc, Rocisky back for those and of course Theo.

  33. Manure just got a royal spanking from Fulham, a 2-0 spanking in fact. 🙂 and there are people out there who say Arsenal wont stand a chance if they play Manure in the CL semi final? Hahaha!

  34. halftime in newcastle match now……absolutely terrible to watch and shud be losing.
AW needs to make changes as 3pts are a must after other results today.denilson has been anonymous, even more so then usual, and diaby has been shocking.we have notin in the middle and are been left vulnerable to a crap newcastle team.
if owen comes on at 0-0 wel b beat

  35. and i dnt even wanna hear any1 tel me to lay off diaby and denilson they hav been pathetic thus far…if they wer in another team wed be laughin our asses off….pair of nancies wnt even put their foot in

  36. dnt ya just know it diabys gone and scored a belter……mayb we can hold the lead for 5mins dis time…diaby been different player dis half…..although he cudnt got much worse

  37. @ Shambogunner

    Spoke too soon eh?

Great win! It was of the most entertaining Arsenal performances this season, end to end stuff and we came out on top. Great Diaby goal and Bendy scored! Thats 12 goals for the big Dane this season. We are just 6 points behind Chelsea.
    UP THE ARSENAL! 🙂

  38. @ gibbs
too rite mate very satisfied with second half performance…bendy had very good game, rvp at heart of everytin good goin forward, nasri startin to really impress me now.still little dodgy at back even before their goal but sagna and clichy really drove us forward today.
i think were comin good at right time and when we get cesc, ade, edu and rossy wel b able to inject some freshness and comp for places and my pre xmas prediction of fin ahead of chelski come come to pass

  39. 3-1 get in, seems we were lucky that taylor had to go off otherwise he may have fustrated us. Great day, Everton, Chelsea and Man Utd lost, Liverpool will want to hit 2nd and so i feel Villa will lose, a nice international break and then a back to normal United should beat Villa while we will have Fabregas back for City, all good 🙂

  40. I can’t believe United and Chelsea both lost. An excellent outcome.

And although we were lucky not to be behind, another gritty performance to keep our run going. Well done boys.

  41. United and Chelsea both losing to crap teams (he he), and Arsenal grinding out a good win. Who would have thought, hey. We are coming good at the right time of the season. Cant wait till Cesc comes back and plays along side Arshavin 🙂

  42. Where is RAMUGUNNER? LOL anyway gr8 win the boyz dug deep very proud only team in the EPL to win all games this year nice turn around! KOW

  43. Dang, i just realised that there wont be any Arsenal action for 2 weeks. Its going to be a looong 2 weeks.

  44. I hate international break.

Great attacking lineup in the Newcastle match – Arshavin, VPersie and Bendtner all worked very well together.

  45. Well villa are not going to be in 5th if they keep this run up but I still want the spuds relegated.
@ sf has morgan been watching villa by any chance now? Lets hope we don’t get any fresh injuries while the break is on.

  46. What a good weekend for Arsenal. Shame I was extremely busy with my work. Couldn’t attend the match. It was fun to watch the highlights of the game. To watch the full game, I downloaded the T-file from Arsenal Vlog. We played a very good game of football bar Martin’s goal. Conceding a goal in 20 seconds after scoring is a crime. Anyway, it didn’t stop us winning the game.

First half was very exciting with both teams playing attacking game. S Taylor was a rock of a CB for them. Arshavin’s run and a cracking shot was so sublime. Shame it didn’t went in. We responded very well in the 2nd half. RVP, Clichy, Nasri and Diaby in particular were very impressive.

Now it looks like our fortune is changing. We are in a unbeaten run of 16 matches(8 wins, 8 draws) in the league after losing miserably against City, the team we play next game at home. Roma win is helping the players to build confidence and togetherness. We already grabbed the 4th place by march. Astonvilla are sinking unbelievably. In Europe, Villareal are a decent team with a solid backline. In their day, they can easily frustuate our young squad. But we should be happy that we are not facing red-hot Liverfool or Barca. Personally I wanted us to draw Barca for a great game of football. Villareal: I will take them. There is a great chance we will progress to CL final. With fit Cesc, Walcott and Rosicky in the team I believe we can beat United. Congratulation Fulham FC for outclassing Quintuple United. Haha… In FA Cup, Chelsea should be favorites because of Hiddink and return of Essien & Drogba. Just my opinion. Don’t get me wrong I will be a happy man with FA Cup.

    Few things to mention:
    1. Almunia is not a great goalkeeper. His career statistics don’t lie. For the first time in many years I have seen a huge improvement in his attitude. In last 3/4 months he has been fairly solid including few good saves. He used to cost us points now he is not costly anymore. He has improved a lot in handling air balls including set-pieces and corners. This season is a long way to go so we will judge him at the end of season. For me, he is still a goalie with Zero trophie in 16 years of footballing career. Anything can change…

    2. One question was floating around my mind for last few days. Who will partner Cesc in the midfield when he returns to the first team? My choice is Diaby. I am saying this for the first time. When healthy and self-motivated, he is a very good midfielder. After few impressive performances in big matches, I think he should start alongside Cesc. Of course he is not a Holding midfielder to play a defensive role but he has been solid defensively. With Cesc & Diaby in the middle they have to complement each other. Diaby impressed me a lot in Rome. Denilson is Arsene’s first choice. Song has also improved his passing game. Competition for places is always good. When everyone fit and available, we have depth in our squad for the first time in 4 years.

    3. Arshavin can be as good as Ronaldo if surrounded by right team mates. Now we have a consistent match winner who can change a game in a blink of an eye. Goal against Blackburn and furious shot against Newcastle are glimpses of his quality. Van Persie’s finishing is not upto his high standard but who cares he is making plays for his team mates. When motivated, Nasri is a better version of Hleb. Besides few defensive issues, our current team is looking very capable of winning things. When our fullbacks are asked to concentrate more on defensive duties than attacking, our defensive record has improved a lot.

    3. What about Bayor’s future? You know I want him to be sold. Bendtner has played considerably well in his absence. Also, we signed Arshavin and Eduardo is back again. Besides his finishing limitations, Bendtner is playing like a future superstar. Hell, he is being asked to play as a left-sided midfielder and he impressed. Eduardo is world class finisher which he has already proved with his national side and few games with Arsenal. Vela is also a speedy striker than a left midfielder. I can’t see a place for Bayor’ untill he starts giving a *uck. 8ok striker should offer more to the team than being a lazy cunt. Like I said, he has potential but his application is very poor.

    4. Clichy was becoming one of the biggest liability for the team with poor defending and terrible crossing. Must admit he was outstanding against Newcastle. Sagna is a Monster for me. Should improve crossing ability though. Sagna has played pretty much every single game this season when available. No rest at all. That’s why he is a monster.

Can’t wait to see Cesc and Arshavin playing together in midfield. I will be attending City game on the 4th to see Cesc. We can’t afford to lose Walcott’s pace in a crucial period of the season. Rosicky; is he alive? Haven’t seen him for more than a year. He was in Arsenal tv though.

Hate those international breaks. Hope players comeback with no injury setbacks.

    Come.On.Gunners.

    Night.

  47. Liverpool were phenomenal today. They never looked like they were struggling with Villa, it made me think of the first half when we last played them over Christmas when our goal was literally besieged for 45 minutes and we looked like we’d be trounced. Liverpool were playing like champions.

With all the points dropped by the top three this year, it makes you wonder just how different things would’ve been if we overcame stragglers like Hull and Stoke earlier in the season.

There were early murmurs of Clichy moving away at the end of the season in one of today’s news rags. I think that’s one position we wouldn’t fail to find replacements for in the squad. As for Super Ade, If we’d have got £30 million for him at the start of this season I’d be laughing. No way is anyone going to pay that for him now. I hope he transforms into a beastly Drogba-esque player during his downtime (without the melodrama). Even I can run faster than him.

  48. Clichy wouldn’t move away and we wouldn’t let him go but gibbs has looked awesome when he’s played but not yet able to cope with the likes of ronaldo and such but in a year or two he will be knocking ca$hley out of the england team and who says arsenal have no englishmen as wilshire will be replacing gerrard and thomas will be kicking out rooney with us also having the 6+5 rule licked….

  49. Wow, that’s pretty optimistic! Even though everyone hates him, Ashley Cole is a fantastic left back. It would take some serious work to dislodge him from the England team. I’m pretty sure Ashley has a job for life as England’s #1 LB. If only he wasn’t such a reprobate.

Does anyone know how that Luke Freeman guy is getting along in the youth set up? I heard he was meant to be ‘The next Jack Wilshire’!
