Arsenal will kick off their 2020-21 Premier League season with a trip to Craven Cottage to take on Fulham F.C. on September 12 and thus, we take a look at Mikel Arteta’s potential starting XI with a number of new signings.

Arsenal has already announced and confirmed the signing of Brazilian winger Willian from Chelsea and the North London boss is hoping to bring in more additions before the transfer curtain gets raised.

However, it’s believed the FA Cup holders have already put some of the funds towards Willian’s wages after the former Chelsea winger joined on a free transfer. Elsewhere, there are reports that Lille defender Gabriel Magalhaes could be Arteta’s new signing with the Gunners already agreed to a fee with the Ligue 1 side for the center-back signing.

Magalhaes signing will not come cheap though, with reports that the likes of Manchester United and Paris Saint-Germain have joined in the race for the 22-year-old signature.

Currently rated at €20m, the Brazil U23 international is delaying his decision following the Red Devils and PSG registering late interest in the forward, however, Arsenal are still ahead in the race for his signature.

Arsenal also has Saint-Etienne’s William Saliba on their books this season after his loan spell back at his former club Saint-Etienne. However, the 19-year-old will likely get game time in spells, rather than Arteta opting to use the Frenchman every week.

Should the Gunners see to the signing of Magalhaes this summer, we could see him playing in a back three alongside Kieran Tierney and David Luiz, with Hector Bellerin and Bukayo Saka being used as wing-backs in a five-man midfield.

Mikel Arteta could also strengthen in the middle of midfield, with the Spanish gaffer keen on signing Lyon’s midfielder Houssem Aouar. According to reports, Arsenal are negotiating a deal which will include wantaway midfielder Matteo Guendouzi in any deal for the 22-year-old.

Willian will also be guaranteed a place in Arteta’s side. The Brazilian will likely be joined up top by Nicolas Pepe and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang. Check out our latest reviews on the best payout online casino UK for Arsenal fans in the UK.

Aubameyang was the club’s top-scorer last season and would be out of contract next summer, meaning the Gunners could be forced to sell the striker if he refuses to commit his long-term future to the club.

Arsenal new boy Willian this week, according to the Express, hinted that Aubameyang will stay, with the winger claiming he wouldn’t have joined if he knew the 31-year-old was leaving.

  1. If Magalhães does sign, he still has a 14 day quarantine to serve, so he probably won’t have enough training time under his belt to start the first game. So it’s much more likely either Holding or Saliba will partner Luiz in the defense vs Fulham. Aouar, if his transfer materializes, would be even further behind.
