Good News! Midfielder quashes Arsenal exit rumours

Arsenal fans have every right to rejoice this summer. Not only have they signed a world class player in Alexis Sanchez but the Community Shield victory over Manchester City has given them a huge morale boost – and an odds boost at Betfair and other bookmakers – as they prepare to fight tooth and nail to win the Barclays Premier League for the first time since 2004.

However, doubts had surfaced over the future of playmaker Santi Cazorla who has been targeted by La Liga champions Atletico Madrid.

The 29-year-old has a contract at Arsenal till 2016 and Diego Simeone was reportedly looking to tempt him with a lucrative offer. However, Cazorla, one of the key players for the Gunners over the past couple of years, has poured cold water on speculation linking him with a return to Spain this summer.

When asked to comment about the links to Atletico, Cazorla said as quoted by Cadena Cope: “I’ve seen that in the papers, but nobody has told me anything personally and the only things I know are from the papers, so I don’t know anything.

“I’m only focused on training here and preparing well playing with Arsenal. It’s paper talk. I’m well, I have the confidence of everybody, the support of the fans and we hope to have a good season.”

Arsenal fans are expecting to enjoy a “good season” as mentioned by Cazorla. Despite leading the league table till Dec-Jan, the Gunners crumbled under pressure only to hold on to the fourth spot in the end last season, but they finished on a high after ending their long wait silverware by winning the FA Cup.
