Friday Arsenal links: Henry, Adebayor + Nordtveit

I’m absolutely bloody knackered today and – it being a Friday afternoon – I’m going to keep things very, very short.

It’s bullet-point time:

  • Thierry Henry thinks Arsenal can win the Premier League this season. I know he says it every year but I still love hearing it come from him, it shows how much he still loves the club. Hopefully we will win it and his Barcelona side can deny Cristiano Ronaldo and Co any sort of trophy in Spain. 
  • Emmanuel Adebayor has claimed that he never wanted to leave Arsenal and was sold by Arsene Wenger because our club “needed the money”. I’m not sure I believe him but to be perfectly honest I don’t really want talk about Adebayor any more. He’s gone and don’t want to think about him until we play Manchester City and I boo ’til I can’t boo no more.
  • Young Norwegian defender Havard Nordtveit has indicated that he is open to a move to Germany. He’s currently on loan in Norway but Nordveit is rated very highly by Arsenal and it wouldn’t be a surprise to see him given some experience in a tougher league.

I’ll leave it there for now because I’ve just been handed a Hahn Superdry by Alan Goat and it’s time to let loose.

  1. I recorded Thierry’s interview on Sky and I kept rewinding it endlessly.The Dude’s HEART is still 1000% Arsenal which I am really proud of. Ade-Buy-Or wants world sympathy and recognitions that is why he is talking. Huntelaar is rumored to be linked to Arsenal,he will sure be a wonderful add-up.

  5. Greetings from the UK sunshine. Just signed up to the blog and enjoying it already.

    The english papers are reporting that Ade said:

    – “Every yr, Barca come in for Cesc, yet he doesn’t get booed, so why when Milan came for me, did the fans turn on me?”

    Very simple answer there son. Every year, little Cesc says time and time again that he is committed to the red and white and he loves this club. What he doesn’t do is compare Barcelona to Beyonce. Cesc also gives 110% every match, sadly mate, you only gave 50% in the last half of last season. THIS is way you got booed fella.

    Now I dont like booing any players (Ashley Cole aside), but Ade is no muppet. He knows the english press, he knows how they work and he’s exploited this to have a last parting shot at the faithful.

    Thanks for the goals Ade, enjoy Manchester……..well, saying enjoy Manchester is kinda like saying enjoy this rusty nail shoved under your toenail, but hey, good things come to those who wait……or chase the $$$.

Don’t we all love Henry?He still has belief in the gunners,as for Ade-byeee,we will put him where he belongs.I don’t know why i get this feeling that he will warm the bench.He should ask Hleb,being on the bench is rather devastating.It’s like going with ua wife to watch a gunners game,Gallas scores and ua wife shouts'”OO Gallas i love u baibe” lol!!!

  9. I have been following this promising Norwegian Havard Nordveit for some time.I strongly believe that his experience in top football will do us a lot and next season he should be ready to play in our first team.
    Keep it up Nordveit.

    Whilst Harry is a promising young lad, he is one of many in our current youth set up, and for me, he is not in the top 3. Thats not taking anything away from him, more an indication of just how promoising these batch of youngsters are.

    I get to underhill an awful lot to watch reserve and youth games. Kyle Bartley has improved 10 fold last season and is definitley the CB to breakl the first team before anyone else. I cant see Harry breaking the 1st team next season, unless we are extrememly unlucky with injuries yet again.

    For me, the top 3 youngsters that are on the edge of breaking that 1st team are

    K Bartley
    J Wilshere

    G Sunu deserves a shout as well…..

  11. Sincerely speaking I dont know anything about this Norwegian fella. Kindly hint me. I’ve always believed Henry left Arsenal to win the Champions League but his heart is still 100% Arsenal. For Adebayor, some things are better left unsaid.

  12. A friend of a friend who knows a family member has said that Adebayor didnt want to leave once he realised that Milan were not interested. The reason for the delay when he said he was thinking about Man City offer was he was actually seeing Wenger and begging him to let him stay. Wenger basically told him it had gone too far. So Adebayor is now bitter and will be saying all sorts a crap to the media now.

    Yes, I’ve heard similar rumours. I know he was spotted at Arsenal HQ on the wednesday going in at 8am and not emerging until 4pm. The other players were training.

    ANyhoo – enough of Ade. He’s gone and although he is a great player, he was never “Arsenal”. Some players bleed arsenal, Cesc, Bergkamp, Henry, Toure etc. To play for Arsenal you have to love the club. Ade loves money. Simples

  27. Henry is the best example of a dedicated and loyal Arsenal player you could possibly ask for. If Ade had been even half the stature of Henry, and shown the same Passion, ability and Loyalty he would never have been booed. All any fan wants to see is a player sweating blood and tears for the team. Ade didn’t do it last season, and was a passenger, glad to see him go!
    I watched Henry the Legend last night, some of the things he did in an Arsenal shirt still send shivers up and down my spine. Along with Brady,Bergkamp the best ever Arsenal player.

    the returning of henry to arsenal is a dream of every gooner. barcelona signed ibrahimovic (will sign), they were looking this season for a winger (ribery, david silva, arshavin!!!!). i think we can bring henry back. henry will surely wan’t to return, barba will i think allowe him.

  34. Good to see such great stats about arsenal FC. From all the transferred player i think were are still not able to replace Vieira,Sultan Henry. What an intimidating player he was even though he was not scoring goals but he created fear against the opposition what good days that we for arsenal. Still remember that day were arsenal torned apart Mcity 6-0 that to at home of city. In those day arsenal were scoring goals a will. Mainly bcz of Sultan Henry. I Miss you both in my arsenal squad. As far as Ade is concern the matter is over he is nothing to us now just leave him. Don’t want to hear any explanation. I still believe the money should be utilized in Midfield but one CDM and one Winger especially RWM. Walcott to me is an ST not an Winger. My Arsenal Team this season

I think AW has lost it again with such news. “Marseille midfielder Lorik Cana has completed a surprise move to English Premier League side Sunderland, who have apparently beaten off competition from Everton and Arsenal to land the Albanian for over €5.7 million on a four year deal” Its a shame. Same happened with PALACIOS, MODRIC LUKAS. who knows what next?

  40. I’m really pissed that we missed canna as he is what we needed and not all the melo crap that went on. He wanted to play in england and signed for the 1st club that showed real interest as it wasn’t about the money and huntlar sounds like another ade I’m off to stuggart but I’ll get my agent to make more money so tought me everywhere and if that fails I’ll go to stuggart and I’m glad they pulled the plug. I’m going to give up jumping on the pc 1st thing every morning to see if we have signed someone as it’s not going to happen.

  42. Cana……5 million…….SUNDERLAND. What were we doing. This man could have sorted us out and for 5 million would have been an absolute bargain. But no, in the end he signed for Sunderland. I really dont get it. M.Diarra, Veloso, Melo (bit too expensive), Cana. I believe none of these would have joined us / will join us because AW doesnt seem to do simple transfers! We will either get some dude no-one has ever heard of or AW will say Song and Deni are good enough, and we will go on to another trophyless season. And to think the transfer period started off soo well. Come On AW, Get a good DM in. We are the arsenal, we can bring top talent to our club.

  44. Just can’t understand AW sometimes and we gunners feel frustrated. Cana for 5 mil it is just errgg. I have no words. If AW wenger thinks he will buy him the next season sorry boss it would be as high as 15 Mil if he is an hit. Can’t understand why we left him.   47. @ALGunner: Sorry dude, I’m a Bordeaux fan, and I’ve watched enough Ligue 1 games to know he’s good but definitely not an improvement over the players we have already. I’m fairly sure Wenger and Grimandi will have looked at him and decided he isn’t the correct mould of player whether it be technically or mentally, and I’d value their opinions.

    I also don’t want Huntelaar, he’s a mercenary, the type of player would go to Mercenary Citeh in a heartbeat.

  48. Nothing happening in the transfer market for us. @xabier i would would also not want huntelaar in arsenal squad he is an fox in the box. We need the pacy forward we miss the pace in the forward line as it suits our forward line. I still think martins from N.castle is available for fair enough price or would be tempted for AV Gabriel Agbonlahor. I would also be again tempted to sign Young again from AV. I would be dreaming again if we would be signing all three of them.Arsenal mentality say we wont sign any one of them.

  51. Three new rumours out today. Arsenal are planning to bid 7 million for Salomon Kalou of Chelsea, 15 million for Klaas-Jan Huntelaar of R Madrid and 10 million for Lee Catermole of Wigan.

  53. Kolo Toure has agreed personal terms on a £15 million deal with Manchester City. Wenger is interested in Chelsea’s Kalou and some kid, called Wellington, to put in the nursery class at the Academy.

    Give us a tough holding midfielder, we’ve now got £40 million to spend, don’t waste it on someone who can’t get a regular start for Chelsea, we don’t need anymore lightweight midfielders.

  57. @ shambo – There is no way Wenger is going for either Kalour or Cattermole, just like he never had any interest in Cana. It’s pointless to get sucked in by fabricated rumours – you’ll be a lot happier if you just ignore it all.

  58. If Cana was deemed requisite quality he’d be at Arsenal. That, good friends, is where I believe the discussions begins and ends.
