Arsenal close to reaching €50 million agreement

The transfer of Gabonese striker, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang to Arsenal is almost nearing completion according to former footballer, Jan Aage Fjortoft. Fjortoft, now a pundit stated this on social media platform, Twitter in a tweet that has delighted Arsenal fans, who have been distraught with the imminent sale of Alexis Sanchez to Manchester United.

News emerged that Arsenal and Borussia Dortmund are locked in talks for the 28-year-old striker, who was dropped for the weekend game after being suspended for disciplinary issues. Fjortoft, the former Middlesbrough and Sheffield Wednesday striker has stated that all that is left is an agreement between all the parties involved, as the clubs and player are keen for the move to happen.

The former AC Milan youth product has been the subject of some disciplinary issues at the club and it seems that the club want him to move on, while Arsenal want him to replace Sanchez. It was reported late last week that Arsenal player recruitment chief, Sven Mislintat and chief executive, Ivan Gazidis have flown to Germany to met with Dortmund representatives on the final details of the deal.

Taking to Twitter yesterday, Fjortoft said, “I guess it’s time to feel confident dear Arsenal- fans: Aubameyang will wear your shirt very soon. “Dortmund want to get him out – Arsenal want to get him in. “Dortmund say we want 70 mill. Arsenal say 50. “Deal just around the corner.” He added.

Aubameyang will offer pace and finishing to the Arsenal strike force and help pacify fans who have been left distraught by the fact that Sanchez is leaving to join a direct rival. Despite his issues with the club, he has netted 21 times in 23 games this season and Arsenal will be hoping he carries that same form to the Premier League.
