Arsene Wenger to be handed £200M transfer kitty

Arsenal season has been engulfed in discouraging results, bad performances and series of protests from the supporters who desperately want Arsene Wenger removed as the club boss.

The 3-0 loss to Crystal Palace – our fourth consecutive away loss- added more woes to the problems on ground and made finishing in the Premier League top four a herculean task, putting further dents on our Champions League qualification.

And it appears the club management can no longer bear the heat and are now ready to splash the cash with a view to overhauling the squad as a big shake-up looms in the summer with some of the star players facing the exit door.

As per The Mirror, Wenger, who could still be in charge next season, would have a whopping  £200 million transfer war-chest, which is expected to be boosted with sales of the likes of Mesut Ozil, Alexis Sanchez, Jack Wilshere, Olivier Giroud, David Ospina, Alex- Oxlade Chamberlain and Lucas Perez, to spend in the summer.

In the light of that, having enough funds to spend is not the problem, obviously that seem not to be the problem in the previous transfer windows, but Wenger persistent errors in the transfer market and hesitations in going for the right player due to their price tag. Getting it right this time in the transfer market would speak for us next season.

The club are already making plans to take the transfer roles from Wenger by appointing a new director of football probably before the transfer window opens and they are looking in the direction of former player Marc Overmars – who is presently operating in that capacity for Ajax – to assign that role to.

The Mirror claim Arsenal are already targeting Lyon’s Alexandre Lacazette to bolster the attack, Crystal Palace’s Wilfred Zaha  to add flare to the attack from the right wing and Celtic’s Kieran Tierney for the left-back.

  1. Is this a new £200 million or is it the same £200 million he had in the last window or is it the £200 million he had from the window before that?

  2. I think its the “war chest” that they roll out every to entice those with season tickets to renew their season tickets.
Arsenal + Wenger + Kroenke + Ambition are not words that could ever be contained in the same sentence..
Besides I would rather the money be saved for the next manager to spend a lot more wisely than we know Wenger will (Mustafi and Xhaka are the most recent examples of poor signings)
