Arsenal v Southampton preview: can the new boys upset the odds?

Arsenal play host to Southampton this weekend and are 4/11 with bet365 and Betfred to bag all three points.
The Gunners  have only ever lost twice at home to Southampton in the league in their entire history, and the last time they met was back in 2004 when they shared the spoils in a 2-2 draw.

Arsene Wenger’s side put in a clinical performance to beat Liverpool 2-0 at Anfield when last in action and notch their first victory of the season following two goalless draws and a repeat of that performance would be good enough to see of The Saints.
New signings Lukas Podloski and Santi Cazorla both found the next on Merseyside and linked up well, and they are the obvious starting point if your playing in the goalscorer markets.
Podolski can be backed at 5 with Paddy Power to net the opener, while Cazorla is a standout 7 with bet365.
Both make plenty of appeal as Olivier Giroud seems to be struggling at the moment, and another decent bet looks to be Podolski to net anytime at 2.1 with Boylesports as the German is odds-on with other firms.
Given that Arsenal are the only team not to concede this season, I am sure that many will be tempted to back them to win to nil at 2.4 with Paddy Power given that their opponents have lost all three of their games this season.
However it’s worth remembering that Southampton have managed to put two goals past both Manchester City and Manchester United, and for that reason it doesn’t appeal to me as I can see them getting one but not being able to prevent an Arsenal victory.
That sets up a couple of possible bets in the correct score market.
I fancy Arsenal to win either 2-1 or 3-1, and those outcomes can be backed at 8.5 with bet365 and 11 with Betfredrespectively.
Over 2.5 goals also looks worth a wager at 1.53 with bet365.
