Arsenal transfer news: Gunners want £15m for star midfielder

According to reports from The Sun, Arsenal are ready to sell Egyptian international, Mohamed Elneny in the January transfer window as the midfielder has become surplus to requirements under Manager, Unai Emery.

The 26-year-old is odds-on favourite to leave The Emirates stadium and odds of Elneny’s transfer on betting website Betsson bonuskod are crashing as the likes of Matteo Guendouzi and Lucas Torreira have moved ahead of him in Emery’s plans.

It is believed that Leicester could make a £15m move for the player in the winter transfer window with Arsenal ready to use the money from his sale to finance a move for Villarreal midfielder, Pablo Fornals. Fornals is said to have a £17.8m release clause in his contract which Arsenal are looking to meet.

Since moving to North London two years ago, Elneny has struggled to impose himself in the Arsenal first team and has not yet featured in a league fixture this term. He penned a new contract in March this year till the summer of 2022 but is now deemed dispensable given the emergence of Torreira, Gendouzi and the remarkable rise of English youngster, Emile Smith-Rowe.

Elneny was linked to a switch to Marseille in the summer but a deal failed to materialise. With the African Nations Cup coming up next summer, Elneny wants to reignite his career by playing regularly and is not averse to the idea of leaving Arsenal in search of first team football.

There is a possibility that Elneny may stay at the club and instead be the replacement for Aaron Ramsey who has failed to agree a new contract with Arsenal. However, The fans will be hoping that to see Elneny leave as has not done enough since making the move to Arsenal from FC Basel in 2016.

Elneny has been linked with a move to a number of Turkish sides, with the likes of Galatasaray and Fenerbahce eager to have the midfielder on a loan transfer. However, it is claimed that Arsenal want the player leave on a permanent transfer in any deal worth £20m.

He is a classy midfielder known for his trademark mop of dreadlocks, very good on the ball, and is adept at playing in both defensive and central midfield. Since joining in January 2016, he has made 75 appearances and has scored twice for The Gunners.

Elneny could finally gets to leave the club in January but a twist could yet happen in coming weeks.
