Arsenal have been rocked by a double injury blow ahead of upcoming crucial league games against Bournemouth, Spurs and Manchester United. The Gunners are enjoying a brilliant unbeaten run under new manager, Unai Emery and would be looking to continue their impressive form against The Cherries who have been in brilliant form this campaign so far. Nacho Monreal and Konstantinos Mavropanos won’t be helping Arsenal to continue the run as both players have suffered setbacks in their rehabilitation.
Monreal has been beset by a hamstring injury and will miss the next three games after suffering a setback, he has not featured for The Gunners since their win at Fulham in early October and will be on the sidelines for a while longer.
Granit Xhaka has filled in for him at left back along with Sead Kolasinac, a player struggling to find consistent form after returning from injury.
Young Greek defender, Konstantinos Mavropanos has not played a single minute this campaign due to a persistent groin complaint but was expected to return to full training this month. However, the 20-year-old centre back’s return date has been pushed back to December, which has raised fears that he may not return to full fitness before the end of the year.
Mavropanos impressed the Arsenal faithful in the last few days of Wenger’s reign, with big things expected of him following the seamless way he immediately adjusted to English football.
After a slow start to the season, Arsenal have taken 24 out a possible 30 points since losing to Manchester City and Chelsea and are now 5th in the Premier League table.
They take on high-flying Bournemouth next at the Vitality Stadium on Sunday with a 13:30 kick off (UK time).
