The dearth of transfer activities at Arsenal continues to looms large, with the shambolic result earned at the Bet365 Stadium but Arsene Wenger is poised to tie the future of his key players to the clubs.
Arsenal are set for a showdown talk with versatile England international and contract rebel Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain over the renewal of his contract, this is according to report.
Like Mesut Ozil and Alexis Sanchez, Chamberlain is a year away from running out his current contract with Arsenal but he has stalled over a new deal. He was reportedly offered £100k-a-week deal but he rejected it and we understand that he is holding out for about £140k-a-week deal.
He has been on the radar of Liverpool and Chelsea, with the latter reportedly willing to meet his wage demand. However, reports surfaced last week that he would put pen to paper on a four-year deal as the Gunners have agreed to up their offers for him.
And now, the Daily Mail claim that Arsenal will have talks with Chamberlain this week in a bid to draw the line on his future. Albeit Arsene Wenger reckons that he will reduce the headcount of his current crop of players, Chamberlain is at the centre of the club’s future plan, hence he’s not for sale.
Alex [Oxlade-Chamberlain] will stay,” Wenger said.
“100 per cent I expect him to stay. There is no speculation. No matter what happens he will stay.”
Since joining Arsenal from Southampton in the summer of 2011, Chamberlain has failed to fulfill his potential, as he has merely flattered to deceive. The 23-year-old English star has had close to 200 appearances for Arsenal but he has managed just 20 goals and 26 assists since he joined despite playing more as an attacker.
Chelsea reportedly wants him for £35 million, but flip it around, if the Gunners sanction a deal worth the said amount on an attacker that has scored 9 league goals in 6 seasons, and 14 assists spanning his career with club, how would you feel? Maybe as a wing back but Chamberlain must improve to show he deserves what he’s asking for.
No this is where it stinks possible moves here ,there and everyone. But nothing happening let’s be honest four good players not signing contracts how does Wenger think they will give 100 percent HE doesn’t proven at stoke last weekend. Let him go.
