Matteo Guendouzi has dropped a massive hint about his future as speculation continues to link him to a move to The Emirates Stadium.
The 19-year-old has been identified by Arsenal manager, Unai Emery as one for the future. He has impressed in Ligue 2 for Lorient and is set to be snapped up by Arsenal as Emery makes his mark on the Arsenal squad. Guendouzi has highlighted the fact that he could be close to a move to north London by liking a tweet that said he could be close to a move.
Reports from media sources in England and France suggested that the midfielder is scheduled to have a medical at the club’s training ground today, though no official confirmation has been reached by both parties. Guendouzi is one of the most highly rated youngsters in the whole of France and was quite impressive in the second tier of French football last term.
Unai Emery is keen on singing a young midfielder to add vigour and agility to the middle of the park. After missing out on Yacine Adli of PSG, Emery has turned his attention to landing Guendouzi.
After starting his career as a box-to-box midfielder, he has been utilized in a deeper role, and orchestrating things from the base of the midfield. It is rumoured that a fee of £7m is the price being quoted for the talented youngster. Guendouzi is supremely talented though his attitude has been called into question.
He fell out of favour last season after falling out with some players in the Lorient dressing room while he was demoted from the squad after personal problems got in the way.
It has been a busy transfer window for Arsenal, as the trio of Bernd Leno, Stephan Lichtsteiner and Sokratis Papastathopoulos have all arrived. Guendouzi looks like a star for the future and could represent some money well spent for the club in the foreseeable future.
