3-4-3: Arsenal’s strongest possible XI to defeat Stoke City – Ramsey in, Mustafi in

Stoke City play host to Arsenal at the bet356 Stadium today but it usually takes a brilliant performance by most teams to get the better of the Potters on their ground.

Arsenal bounced back twice to defeat Leicester city in their league opener and the game was a test of the Gunners’s defence but the Stoke City game is certain to be a test of the creativity and aggressiveness of the London giants. The Potters are a difficult nut the crack, last season Arsenal surprising played well in both games but the difference they made came in the second half.

While Arsene Wenger has a plethora of options, Arsenal will be without Alexis Sanchez for the game due to an abdominal injury and Laurent Koscielny who will serve his last ban of three suspensions.

We take a swipe of Arsenal’s line-up.

Goalkeeper

Petr Cech remains first choice for the Gunners and despite letting in three goals against Leicester City, he’ll retain his place in-between the sticks for Arsenal.

Defence

Arsene Wenger reverted to playing a back but the absence of his first choice centre-backs accounted for their shaky league start. Mustafi has returned to training and he will take the place of holding on the right side of a back three. While Koscielny serves his final match ban, Mertesacker will play in his stead as the heart of the back three and flanked by him on the left side would be Nacho Monreal.

Chamberlain has been impressive as a wing back, will play ahead of Bellerin on the right side while the ‘tank’ Sead Kolasinac will occupy the left wing back position.

Midfield

Xhaka arrived from Borrussia Monchengladbach last season and he was heavily criticized for his untimely tackles. The Midfielder has become the toast for the fans of Arsenal and we’ll be hoping he dissects the defence of the Potters with his passes. Ramsey proved in the last game why he’s a better player than Elneny, he’ll partner Xhaka as the free-role midfielder.

Attack

Lacazette has slotted in the team of the Gunners and he will be given another run-in ahead of Giroud as the lead attack. In the Ozil will occupy the left side of the front three while Danny Welbeck should take the nod and play on the right side of attack.

Probable 3-4-3 line-up: Cech, Chamberlain, Mustafi, Mertesacker, Monreal, Kolasinac, Xhaka, Ramsey, Ozil, Lacazette and Welbeck.

  1. Yes I like and agree with your line up. For me since we started to play 3-4-3, we have looked solid at the back and imo that hasn’t happened since 2004. Last week was an anomaly, the first time playing the system that we looked shakey. I was puzzled as to why we did look shakey, maybe because kolosniac is new to us? Gabriel (RIP) , Holding both looked good before playing a 3-4-3. when they have looked terrible playing 4-4-2. I am bemused why we got rid of Gabriel, seeing as though last week we had one player, Holding, who is a true centre back and Gabriel like all the others look much more comfortable in this new system.
