On a day where rivals Manchester United are reportedly closing on a move for Alexis Sanchez, the day couldn’t have gotten any worse for the Gunners as we failed to close the gap on the top four by losing 2-1 away at the Vitality Stadium.
The Gunners are now five points adrift of the top four and remain winless across all competitions in the last four games. It was also the north London club fifth away defeat of the season as the Cherries recorded their first ever win against the Gunners in the Premier League.
The Gunners looked bereft of ideas without two of our biggest players and struggled badly in the absence of Alexis Sanchez and Mesut Ozil but Hector Bellerin strike put the Gunners ahead in the 52nd minute after a brilliant through pass from Alex Iwobi.
However, goals from Calum Wilson and Jordan Ibe in the 70th and 83rd minute secured a remarkable win for the Cherries.
Even though it was a below par performance from the Gunners, English forward, Danny Welbeck particularly had a day to forget having been dispossessed off the ball twice, failed to complete any dribble, could only muster one shot on target and created just one chance.
Below is what fans have been saying about Danny Welbeck below par performance against Bournemouth on social media platform, twitter:
Players haven’t been held accountable for recent performances. If we see Danny Welbeck starting our next game after another woeful performance it is all on Wenger and his naive methods of player development

Danny Welbeck would be lucky to be an impact sub for West Brom.

Now fuck off Liverpool and fuck off again Arsenal.
Cech out too.
Welbeck out!
Iwobi out!— Umzi (@MesutOzil2021) January 14, 2018
I remember when Arsenal signed Danny Welbeck. I thought it was a joke at first. The striker that barely scores. Good one Wenger. Sad thing was the joke was on the fans. Don't even get me started on Iwobi. #AFC

Welbeck. Love the bloke and gives it 100%. But he doesn't fit us at all. Never understood why we signed him. Not for us. pic.twitter.com/bQ6i5D2LDd

As I’ve said before, Wenger is more interested in developing players than winning games. Hence Welbeck getting another 90mins, in the hope he’ll find some form.
— Ramble (@afc_ramble) January 14, 2018
The fact that Welbeck played 90mins tells you how crappy Arsenal is and its gonna get worse with Wenger still manager & of course the imminent departures of our best players #BOUARS #Afc

Don’t want to pin it all on Welbeck but this is all his fault
— Ramble (@afc_ramble) January 14, 2018
All banter aside, Saloman Kalou is genuinely better than Danny Welbeck.

The 27-year-old who has been consistently inconsistent so far this season has scored only once in his last 11 Premier League appearances and has scored three goals and registered one assist in 21 games across all competitions.
The goalless draw at Stamford Bridge in the Carabao Cup first leg semi-final may have papared the cracks but their flaws were widely exposed today as the team look short of quality players both in defence and attack and it can only be fitting for Arsene Wenger to make one or two additions this transfer window or risk missing out on the top four for the second successive season.
