Show Arsene Wenger how it’s done in Football Manager 11

Arsene Wenger has a deserved reputation for being frugal in the transfer market, so much so that he is the only manager in the history of the Premier League to consistently make a profit out of his transfers. This comes despite winning three Premier League titles and four FA Cups and qualifying for the Champions League in every one of his 14 seasons in charge of Arsenal.

I think it’s fair to say that if Wenger had time in his busy schedule to play computer games, he would have been bloody good at Football Manager.

For those that have never played the game, Football Manager gives you the opportunity to take the managerial reigns at a club of your choice, dictating everything you can imagine: player transfers, team tactics, financial development and much, much more. It is a ridiculously fun and rewarding game and one that I have lost countless hours to over the years.

In true Arsene Wenger style, my favourite thing about the game is plucking a young player from obscurity for next to no money and watching them develop into a superstar. Think Laurent Koscielny, Alex Song or Gael Clichy and you’ll know what I mean.

The latest edition of Football Manager 2011 will be out in the shops from November 5th and it’s going to be better than ever. Football Manager 2011 will be jam-packed full of new features such as real-time contract negotiations for more realistic dealings with agents, a new set-piece creator, and a completely overhauled training system.

Mirror Football readers will have access to the game before everyone else on Thursday 21st October. Although the official demo launches a day later on the 22nd of October, eager players keen to check out the game can punch in the code available on the Mirror Football website to try it out. 1. my nephew is playing it, I never understood the sense of this game, I think it’s only for male human beings, beyond me …….. 😉

  2. I got one free (FM 2010), when I bought a couple of thing in the Arsenal shop. It might be good, but I did not like the match graphics, so I stopped playing. After Fifa it’s difficult to watch these matches. Was this developed? Any videos?

  3. Current running time for my FM2010 game: 28 days, 3 hours, 5 minutes.

I don’t think my life can afford FM2011.

  4. Whilst I haven’t played FM10 in a good few months, according to Steam my FM2010 playing time is in excess of 120 hours.

Being a student is tough at times.

  5. When I originally commented I clicked the -Notify me when new comments are added- checkbox and now each time a remark is added I get 4 emails with the identical comment. Is there any means you’ll be able to remove me from that service? Thanks!
