Alexis Sanchez was unarguably Arsenal’s best player last season. Despite being let down by his team-mates, his goals ensured the Gunners did not drop below the fifth position on the Premier League standings, even though finishing in that position means we miss out on Champions League football next season for the first time in more than 20 years.

While the speculations surrounding the future of Arsene Wenger at the Emirates Stadium has been settled after signing a two-year contract extension, the club is still struggling to tie down our talisman with a new contract as Sanchez has stalled on committing his future to the club.

Wenger has been busy in the transfer market, making efforts to bolster the squad ahead of the new season and challenge for the league title. A number of good players have been linked with a move to Arsenal.

Nevertheless, Arsenal are not ready to let go of Alexis Sanchez and Mesut Ozil. The pair has just 12 months left on their current contract but are stalling on putting pen to papers on new contracts which may force the club to sell them this summer.

Though not much has been said about Ozil’s future at Arsenal, Sanchez’s has remained an interesting topic for debate in the media. Bayern Munich and Man City are said to be vying for his signature.

But Chilean journalist Juan Lius has another news, tweeting on his Twitter handle that his countryman is staying put at Arsenal.

The tweet when loosely translated means:  “Alexis Sanchez does not move from Arsenal.”

This will definitely be a relief to Gunners fans and should Arsenal succeed in keeping hold of him and together with the new legs that will be brought in, the club will be competitive again.
