Henrikh Mkhitaryan joins Arsenal with a mission to prove his quality

The signing of 29-year-old Armenian international, Henrikh Mkhitaryan has gone somewhat under the radar as the headlines has been grabbed by the sensational move to Manchester United, which has been trending on social media. United and Arsenal agreed on a stunning swap deal involving Alexis Sanchez and Mkhitaryan, and it would seem that the Red Devils got the better deal as the form of Mkhitaryan has been shoddy of late.

His quality is not in doubt but he has a sense of a man on a mission to prove that United were too hasty in letting him go. The philosophy of Arsenal is in sync with how he loves playing football, with many believing that Jose Mourinho’s style of football stifled his ability.

For a player that registered 13 goals and 20 assists in his final season at Borussia Dortmund, Mkhitaryan hasn’t gone bad all of a season, and will looking to repay the Arsenal manager, Arsene Wenger for the  faith he showed in ability to sufficiently replace Sanchez.

Mkhitaryan was an inconsistent fellow at Old Trafford as he showed flashes of brilliance which were masked by long periods of mediocrity. He must ensure that he gets to grips with the way his new manager wants to play, assert himself on the pitch of play and show the world why he was so highly rated in Germany.

No football fan would forget his remarkable scorpion kick goal last season in the colours of United, meaning that all he needs to do is work on his mental strength. Too many a times this season, he looked like a man that was struggling to believe he could play at such a big club.

While the world has been waxing lyrical about the impact Sanchez would have at United, it could play into the hands of Mkhitaryan. He would grab the headlines at that point and remind everyone of his quality.
