The uncertainty surrounding Arsene Wenger’s future seems not to have deterred Arsenal from going ahead with the transfer plans as reports by the Sun claims that the club have signed Sead Kolaskinac from Schalke.

It was reported that a transfer war-chest of £200 million, part of which is expected to be funded by the sales of some players would be available to spend on new recruits in the summer.

Kolaskinac, 23, whose contract with Schalke expires this summer has been on the radar of Arsenal having being scouted by the club since the start of the season and claimed yesterday (Thursday) that Arsenal were close to signing but it now appears the deal has been done.

Reports from Bosnia have it that the Schalke left-back who is also a target for Chelsea, Manchester City and Juventus has signed a pre-contract agreement with Arsenal ahead of a summer transfer.

Kieran Gibbs has been touted to be the successor to Nacho Monreal who is not getting any younger but the England international has failed to prove reliable in the left arm of the defence. His current deal expires next summer but could be on his way out of the club at the end of this season.

It is expected Kolaskinac’s signing would represent good purchase for Arsenal. The Bosnia international is versatile in the defence department as he can also play as a defensive midfielder and a centre-back, not forgetting that he equally has an eye for goal as he has been involved in eight goals, scoring three of those for Schalke this season.

Kolaskinac has spent his entire career in the Bundesliga and joined Schalke from Stuttgart in 2011. He has made over 120 appearances for the German club.
