Arsenal to step up pursuit of skillful winger, £26m sees deal done

Newly appointed director of football at Arsenal, Raul Sanllehi is expected to pursue the signings of some top players in world football and it would seem the former Barcelona man is hard at work. The Daily Mail reports that The Gunners are keen on signing talented Portuguese youngster, Goncalo Guedes who has impressed on loan from PSG to Valencia this season.

The 21 year old has found opportunities hard to come by since his £26m move to the Parc des Princes in January and instead made the loan move to join Marcelino’s team, who are placed second on the La Liga league standings, just five points behind Barcelona.

Arsenal are resigned to losing star duo, Mesut Ozil and Alexis Sanchez as the pair have failed to extend their contracts at the club, meaning that they may leave in the winter transfer window as we don’t want to lose them on a free in the summer.

Guedes, a 4-time Portugal international has earned admirers all around Europe for his creativity for Los Che this season, and is being monitored by a host of top European clubs. French giants, PSG need to sell some players to balance the books and nit fall foul of UEFA’s Financial Fair Play regulations.

The French outfit spent about £197m on the signing of Brazil superstar, Neymar this summer while the permanent signing of teenage sensation, Kylian Mbappe is expected to gulp about £166m next summer. Guedes along with the likes of Zaza, Parejo, Soler and Rodrigo have propelled the 2000 Champions League finalists to 2nd spot on the Spanish league table.

Guedes who can play anywhere across the front three is one of Europe’s most sought after young players, as his creativity is way advanced for a player of his age. He made the move to Valencia this season as he wants to be a member of Portugal squad for the World Cup in 2018.

Guedes, 21, is an attacking midfielder known for his vision, passing, creativity and awareness of what goes on around him. If he decides to join Arsenal, he will be another threat going forward and be a statement signing that The Gunners fans have been craving for years, as he has the potential to be one of the best players in world football in the nearest future.

He has made 11 appearances for Valencia this season, scoring 3 times and creating a further 5.
