The London club have been put in a tight corner by their two star players who have refused to extend their contracts. The future of the duo of Alexis Sanchez and Mesut Ozil remain up in the air with their current deal expiring in 2018.

Recent happenings are giving ominous signs that the pair may eventually exit the Emirates Stadium in the summer. That being said, Arsenal need to sign players to bolster the squad.

Since being drafted into the central striker role this season, Sanchez has been involved in 26 goals for the Gunners, a better return that the main striker Olivier Giroud.

With the potential exit of the Chilean forward and coupled with the inconsistencies of Giroud and Theo Walcott in the final third as well as summer signing Lucas Perez also contemplating leaving the club, the Gunners strongly need to consider a striker in the summer.

Both creative and defensive midfielders are needed in the midfield, particularly a box-to-box midfielder. Ozil may also follow Sanchez out of the club, Granit Xhaka is struggling to cope in the premier league, Santi Carzola is injury-prone while Francis Coquelin has also not been impressive, leaving that department exposed.

Apart from Hector Bellerin and Laurent Koscienly none of the defenders are really performing to expectations. A centre-back to partner Koscienly and a right-back should be on their transfer list. And to complete the restructuring of the defence, a new shot-stopper should be signed. Petr Cech is not getting any younger and the signs of old age is already showing.

Arsenal just need to bring out chequebook and make a statement in this summer transfer market.
