Agent tacitly confirms Petr Cech will play for Arsenal next season

The agent of Petr Cech has stated that his client is not looking at the prospect of leaving the club despite claims that his former club, Chelsea want him to return to Stamford Bridge.

The reports linking Chelsea number 1, Thibaut Courtois with a move to Real Madrid have heightened speculation that Cech could be ready to move back to West London.

Additionally, he is very unlikely to start every week for us as he did last season; not only did he look a shadow of his former self in 2017-18, now we’ve signed another stopper in Bernd Leno, who is expected to take the number one spot. The latter factor has been said to potentially help sway his mind.

Viktor Kolar, the 36-year-old’s agent, has stated that there have been no offers for the player and that he’s fully focused on playing for The Gunners this forthcoming campaign.

Speaking to ESPN, Kolar said that, “It is always busy during every transfer window around Petr Cech, as a great Premier League person. However, he maximally focuses on the new season at Arsenal, no specific offer is available,”. Even though Cech has been linked to Chelsea, David Ospina is the goalkeeper being tipped to make way for Leno as Boca Juniors have made no secret of their intentions to buy the player. Cech could still keep his place in the Arsenal first team as Unai Emery says he has not decided who his first choice will be.

Cech and Leno will be looking to impress their manager as Arsenal play preseason games against Atletico Madrid and PSG in Singapore. Cech is an experienced Premier League campaigner that holds the record of the highest number of clean sheets in the division’s history; since joining us 2015 following an 11-year spell with Chelsea, he has since made 117 appearances.

Nobody could argue with what Cech has achieved in the game – and he might be a good man to have around the club to help Leno – but were he to stay, he would have to accept a peripheral role.
