3-4-3: Strongest probable lineup to defeat Chelsea

Arsenal will be hoping to prove their doubters wrong by doing what many have tagged “the impossible” with a win over Premier League Champions, Chelsea at Stamford Bridge on Sunday.

We will be buoyed by our recent wins over the Blues in last season’s FA cup final and this season’s community shield.

Here we take a look at the likely line up Arsene Wenger could go for in his 59th game against Chelsea.

Goalkeeper

We have not kept a clean sheet in our last 12 visits to Stamford Bridge and on 8 occasions we have conceded 2 goals or more. Wenger will however be confident that Petr Cech, our first choice goalkeeper and former Chelsea man will prove to be a thorn in the flesh of his former team and the Frenchman will hand him the starting berth as expected.

Defence

Wenger is expected to play a 3-4-3 formation and that means the trio of Nacho Monreal, Laurent Koscielny and Shkodran Mustafi could start at the back.

Midfield

Granit Xhaka and Aaron Ramsey have formed a brilliant partnership in the midfield lately and Wenger could again decide to use the pair with the hope that they will give the likes of Kante and Bakayoko a tough time while ensuring the creativity is there.

Following his second half exploits against Cologne last Thursday, Sead kolasinac is expected to play at the left wing back position while Hector Bellerin plays at the right.

Attack

Alexis Sanchez delivered on his return to the starting line-up against Cologne and Wenger will hope that continues. Sanchez could be handed the role of supporting the attack from the left while Mesut Ozil operates from the right.

Alexandre Lacazette as widely expected could lead the line with Olivier Giroud and Danny Welbeck expected to drop to the bench.
