22-goal striker backed to replace Alexis Sanchez at Arsenal

Former Newcastle goalkeeper, Shaka Hislop has stated that Borrussia Dortmund striker, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang is the perfect replacement for wantaway striker, Alexis Sanchez. The former Newcastle shotstopper turned pundit has stated that the 28-year-old Gabonese striker will fit the profile for a club like Arsenal.

Arsenal are resigned to losing the Sanchez who has refused to sign a contract extension at the club, which has led to speculation that he could be set for a move to Manchester City, who were close to signing him in the summer. Hislop believes that Aubameyang is the perfect replacement though he doesn’t put him  in the same bracket as the Chilean.

Aubameyang is ready to leave Germany as the relationship between him and the club is almost rock bottom. He has attracted interest from the likes of PSG, Chelsea and Real Madrid though interest from those clubs is not at fever pitch as before. With six months left on his current deal, Arsenal may be willing to let him go so as to force a transfer fee. Hislop gave two reasons why The Gabonese will be a hit at Arsenal.

Firstly, because the fans would be pleased that they have a world class talent to replace Sanchez who is on his way out and offer pace that could have been lost if Sanchez goes.

Speaking recently, Hislop said, “Speculation about Aubameyang was that he had signed a new contract a couple of months ago, then he came out and said no it’s still sitting on the table.

“Aubameyang to Arsenal makes lots of sense as a replacement for Alexis Sanchez.  I think he wants out, I think he also brings the pace that Arsenal would lose with Alexis Sanchez.

“It would also go some way to appeasing the fans after losing such a big name like Alexis Sanchez. “Still not on the level of Alexis Sanchez, but I think it comes very close.” He added.

Though there has been no direct link from Arsenal about Aubameyang, reports in the media have suggested it and thus latest admission by Hislop is another testament to that fact. Aubameyang is a striker known for his pace, finishing and desire to score goals. He has netted 22 goals in 24 matches this season for the 1997 Champions League winners.
